The Secret to Productivity: Making Wealth Flow with Rewards

Have you ever thought that the money we spend could actually be more productive than the money we save? It sounds a bit strange, right? But it turns out, in Muslim Faith, the wealth we give in the path of Allah doesn’t diminish; instead, it continues to flow into our rewards.

Charity Makes Wealth Grow

Many people think that if you want to be rich, you have to save as much as possible. However, in Muslim Faith, the concept is the opposite. Allah ﷻ says:

“The parable of a person who spends his wealth in the way of Allah is like a grain that grows seven spikes, on each spike a hundred grains. Allah multiplies it for whom He wills. And Allah is All-Encompassing (His gifts) and All-Knowing.” ( Quran Surah Al-Baqarah verse 261)

The meaning is very clear: charity is like planting a seed. Once planted, you can harvest many times more. So, it’s not our wealth that’s going to flow out, but rather our investment in the afterlife.

The Story of the Companions: Utsman bin Affan and the Raumah Well

One truly remarkable example in Muslim Faith is the story of Uthman ibn Affan (may Allah be pleased with him). At that time, the Muslims in Medina were short of clean water. There was a well, called the Raumah Well, but its owner demanded a high price for water. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said that whoever could buy the well and donate it to the community would receive a reward in Paradise. Without further ado, Uthman bought the well with his wealth and donated it to the Muslim community.

Just imagine, from just one well, rewards flowed continuously for hundreds of years. Every time someone drank from that well, there was a reward for Uthman. That’s clear evidence of how wealth can be incredibly productive when used for Allah ﷻ.

Modern Life: Freelancers, Employees, and Small Alms

Now, let’s move on to the modern world. Not everyone has billions like Utsman. There are freelancers whose income fluctuates, employees whose salaries are barely enough, and small traders in the market. But that doesn’t mean we can’t participate in “harvesting rewards” within Muslim Faith.

For example, an employee earning the minimum wage (UMR) sets aside Rp 10,000 every Friday for charity. The amount may seem small to a human being, but if done sincerely, Allah (swt) can multiply it into limitless rewards. Or a freelancer who has few orders still finds time to buy snacks for orphans. These are all forms of productive investment in the afterlife.

Modern research also shows something interesting. People who make a habit of giving are actually happier, healthier, and often more productive at work. So, giving alms not only brings blessings but also provides positive energy for oneself.

Hold or Let Go?

Sometimes we think, “If I spend my money, it’ll just run out.” Yet the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) promised the opposite. He said:

مَا نَقَصَتْ صَدَقَةٌ مِنْ مَالٍ

“Almsgiving will not decrease wealth.” ( Hadith narrated by Muslim )

Worldly logic might dictate that wealth decreases, but in Muslim Faith, the logic of faith dictates that wealth actually increases. Sometimes, blessings can come from unexpected directions after we give willingly. It could be a new order, better health, a more harmonious family, or peace of mind that money can’t buy.

Conclusion: Let’s Make Our Assets Productive

So, the secret to productivity isn’t just hard work or taking on a side hustle, but also how we manage our wealth so that rewards flow. From the stories of the Companions, to Allah’s promises in the Quran, to modern experiences, everything shows that giving doesn’t make you poor, but rather makes life more blessed.

Starting now, try to make a habit of setting aside a small portion of your income for charity. You don’t have to wait until you’re rich. Even small change can become a source of reward. Who knows, through this small habit, Allah may open the doors of sustenance wider, and rewards will flow continuously.
