The month of Ramadan is always the most anticipated moment for Muslims around the world. After previously in the month of Rajab we were encouraged to plant good deeds, then in the month of Sya’ban we tend, water, and maintain that goodness. So, Ramadan is the time to harvest manifold rewards. Why? Because in this month rewards are multiplied and even the doors of forgiveness are opened wide. It can be said that Ramadan is the “reward harvest season” which is a shame to miss. Come on, let’s discuss the virtues of the month of Ramadan and how we can make the most of it!

1. The virtues of the month of Ramadan: The month when the Koran was revealed
One of the greatest virtues of the month of Ramadan is the revelation of the Koran. Allah SWT says in Surah Al-Baqarah verse 185:
“(The specified days are) the month of Ramadan, the month in which (the beginning of) the Al-Quran was revealed as guidance for mankind and explanations regarding that guidance and the distinction (between what is right and what is false). Therefore, whoever among you is present (in the country where he lives) in that month, let him fast in that month.” (QS. Al Baqarah: 185)
So, this month we are encouraged to read, understand and practice the Al-Qur’an more often. As long as the reward is doubled, right?

2. The Virtue of the Month of Ramadan: The Door of Forgiveness is Wide Open
Who doesn’t want their sins forgiven? Well, another virtue of the month of Ramadan is a great opportunity to repent.
Rasulullah SAW said:
“And whoever observes the night of Qadr (with worship) because of faith in Allah and hoping for reward (only from Him) will be forgiven his previous sins, and whoever fasts during Ramadan because of faith in Allah and hoping for reward (only from Him) will be forgiven his previous sins”. (Sahih Al-Bukhari)
This means that if we truly carry out the fast with a sincere heart, Allah will erase our sins.

3. The Virtues of the Month of Ramadan: Lailatul Qadar Night, Multiplied Rewards
Now, this is the most awaited one! There is an opportunity for multiplied rewards for worship. The extraordinary virtue of the month of Ramadan is the existence of Lailatul Qadar Night, which is a night that is better than a thousand months. Imagine, one night of worship can be equivalent to worship for more than 83 years! Allah Ta’ala says,
“Indeed, We have sent it (the Quran) down on the night of power. And what do you know what the night of power is? It is better than a thousand months.” (QS. Al Qadr: 1-3).
Even the Messenger of Allah said to look for it:
“Seek Lailatul Qadar on an odd night in the last ten nights of Ramadan” (HR. Bukhari)
Therefore, do not miss this golden opportunity. Increase worship, prayer, and dhikr in the last nights of Ramadan, hopefully we can get many blessings on Lailatul Qadar.
4. The Virtue of the Month of Ramadan is the Time of Answered Prayers
Ramadan can be the best time to increase prayers where prayers are more easily answered and even Allah SWT frees many of His servants from the fire of hell.
Rasulullah sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said:
“Indeed, Allah frees several people from the fire of hell every day of the month of Ramadan, and every Muslim if he says a prayer, it will certainly be answered.” (HR. Al Bazaar)
The Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam also said:
“Three people whose prayers are not rejected; a just imam, a fasting person when breaking his fast and the prayer of the oppressed, his prayer is raised above the clouds and the doors of heaven are opened, Rabb ‘azza wajalla said: By My might, I will help you even after a long time.” (Narrated by At-Tirmidhi).
From the hadiths above, we can understand that the prayers of a fasting person have their own special qualities, especially in the month of Ramadan. It is sunnah for a fasting person to pray a lot from the beginning to the end of his fast because during that time he is in a state of worship. So, what do you want to ask for in the month of Ramadan?
