Nuzulul Quran: Important Lessons from the First Revelation of the Quran in Ramadan

Nuzulul Quran, the event marking the descent of the first revelation upon Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), signifies the beginning of the Islamic message. This momentous occasion is immortalized within the Quran itself, in Surah Al-Baqarah verse 185:

(The month of) Ramadan is the [one] in which the Quran was sent down as a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion. So whoever of you witnesses the month, let him fast it. And whoever is ill or on a journey – then an equal number of other days. Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship and to complete the number of days and to glorify Allah for that to which He has guided you and that you may give thanks.

Nuzulul Quran, believed to have occurred on the 17th night of Ramadan in 610 CE, holds many lessons and significant wisdom for Muslims. Let’s explore some of them:

Ramadan is the month of fasting, where Muslims are obligated to heighten their devotion, including reciting and comprehending the Quran.
